Case Study: Electric Cinema
The Electric Cinema was recently taken over and completely refurbsihed
by the Soho House Group PLC. Livewire have created a number of websites
for the different properties of the Soho House Group, providing
a range of different support services for each property.
For the Electric Cinema, a bespoke Content Management System was
created which allows inhouse staff to change the site's content
themselves, without the need to come back to us, the developers,
each time.
The Cinema has a varied programme of Films, events, Kids Club and
other activities including special events and discounts for members
of the associated private members club.
We developed a system that automatically generates the website
pages in accordance with the scheduled programme on any particular
day.
The home page always shows the current film, and provides links
to the rest of the programme.
A secure backend system, accessible via a standard web browser,
allows for details of films to be entered and independentantly scheduled
across the whole run of the programme. Special member's events are
entered using the same system but are not available for viewing
by the general public.
One of the great benefits for Electric Cinema has been the ease
with which last minute changes to the film programme can be incorporated
on the website with minimal effort.
Alongside the Content Management system we developed an email Newsletter
management system. This collects user's email addresses once they've
entered them on the website. A bespoke preview mechanism allows
the regular email newletter to be written in enhanced email format,
allowing for the use of text styling such as bold/italic etc.
The system can then send out the email to the list. Every email
sent includes a standard footer with details of how to unsubscribe
and a security check is employed to ensure that all email addresses
submitted via the main website are valid.
Since the website was launched, coinciding with the re-opening
of the cinema, there have been almost a thousand a new email addresses
entered into the system.
